Dennis Eugene Thorpe. November 3, 1943 ~ June 22, 2026

Dennis Eugene Thorpe, age 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 22, 2026. He was born on November 3, 1943, in Malad City Idaho to Eugene and Helen Hansen Thorpe. 

He joined the United States Marine Corps with his best friend, Lorne Banfield, after high school. He married the love of his life, Margaret Schoonover, on July 21, 1965, at Edwards AFB.

Dennis also served in the United States Air Force and the Navy Reserve. Upon retirement from the Armed Forces, he had a great career in aircraft at Hill AFB. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret, whom he shared nearly 61 years of marriage with, his two children, Steven (Amber) Thorpe of Brigham City, Utah and Christine (Christopher) Vigil of South Ogden Utah, his sister, Diana (Denny) Soloman, his brother, Gerald (Donna (deceased)) Thorpe, six grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Helen Thorpe, and one grandchild, Jessica Parker.

Dennis was an avid hunter and enjoyed numerous hobbies including ammunition reloading, firearms, tending to his property and garden, and canning. He was skilled in many different trades and even built his own home with the help of his friends. He loved to share his vast knowledge, wisdom, and talents. Dennis was the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, friend, and mentor. He greatly loved his family and looked forward to having his family over for dinner nearly every Sunday. Dennis was an incredible man and an even better friend.

H was beloved and will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held at Malad City Cementery on July 31, 2026, at 11 am.
