IMNH van to visit museum Saturday

Pam Pascallin with the Idaho Museum of Natural History mobile unit.

Dinosaurs!  Idaho is famous for dinosaur fossils and even has a State Dinosaur – the Oryctodromeus cubicularis, commonly known as "Orycto."  Now kids of all ages can see Idaho dinosaur fossils and learn more about dinosaurs when the Idaho Museum of Natural History’s mobile museum comes to Malad on Saturday, June 20

The van and trailer will be parked in front of Ireland Bank, next to the Oneida Pioneer Museum, from 1-5 p.m. Parking can be found behind the Bank so that people do not have to cross the street to get to the Mobile Museum.

Pam Pascali, the Mobile Museum Educator, arranged with Paige Tavoian, a hostess at the Oneida Pioneer Museum and Pam’s long-time friend and colleague, to bring the Mobile Museum to Malad. Visitors will get to experience an Idaho dinosaur skeleton, dinosaur nests and skulls, and hands-on activities related to Idaho’s dinosaurs.

The dinosaur experience fits perfectly with the Oneida County Library’s summer reading program theme of “Unearth a Story.” Learn about Idaho’s ancient history at the Mobile Museum and then drop by the Oneida Pioneer Museum to learn about Malad Valley’s pioneer past. Then visit the Library to find books about Idaho’s fascinating history. History is never boring, whether you are interested in dinosaurs or pioneers.
