Even though he never lived in Malad Valley, Evan Stephens is regarded as almost a native son because most of his family moved north from Willard and settled in Samaria and Malad. Stephens often walked from his home in Salt Lake City to visit his family in Malad Valley, and he served at least twice as a judge for the local Eisteddfod in the early 1900s. For these reasons, the 7th Annual Malad Valley Welsh Festival is going to feature Evan Stephens and his music during the Friday evening concert.

The delay came when he took a 36-year detour to teach math, science, English and history in the Oneida School District.
