Clifford Sherman “Sherm” Mansfield December 23, 1941 ~ May 13, 2026
Clifford Sherman “Sherm” Mansfield was born on December 23, 1941, in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Sherm passed away on May 13, 2026, from natural causes. He was raised in Samaria, Idaho, alongside his siblings Jay, Dee, Kay, and Annice. Growing up in a small community taught him the value of hard work and responsibility, and looking out for others, principles he carried throughout his life.
Sherm attended Malad High School, where he enjoyed playing sports. After graduating, he joined the United States Army and served with pride. He later married Joleen Caldwell, and together they raised four children: Kristie, Michelle, Todd, and Scott. Sherm was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints.
He later married Dianne Cutter, the love of his life. They lived in California and eventually settled in Idaho Falls, where they built a strong and supportive life together until Dianne’s passing.
Throughout his years in Idaho, California, and Arizona, Sherm was an entrepreneur who owned and managed several businesses. His greatest passion, however, was horses. He loved racing, breeding, and raising them, and he shared this work with his close friend Craig Giles. Together, they developed and trained several successful racehorses and enjoyed many years of partnership in the industry.
Sherm will be remembered for his loyalty, humor, determination, and the way he made people feel valued.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dianne; his son, Todd; his parents; and his three brothers. He is survived by his children Kristie, Michelle, and Scott, and by his sister, Annice. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will take place in Samaria, Idaho, at a future date.
