Local student wins 9th card design contest
Malad High School student Cumorah Carter won the Idaho Department of Education’s annual holiday card contest for the 9th grade. Each year, the Department of Education staff vote to select a winner for each grade level as well as two overall winners, one from grades K-6 and one from grades 7-12.
As Superintendent Debbie Critchfield said, “Choosing winners from so many amazing submissions is always a challenge, and this year was no different.”
Cumorah was a student in Krystal Fonnesbeck’s art class during first semester when the contest was held. Her card featured a reindeer and was inspired by the song “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.”
The overall winners were third grader Elaina Tope of Kootenai Elementary School in the Lake Pend Oreille School District and eighth grader Paityn Goodnight from Summitvue Middle School in Vallivue School District.
