Coach Roslyn Brimhall to be inducted into county Hall of Fame

On Monday, May 19, 2025, the 14th Oneida County Hall of Fame banquet will be held at the Event Center (at the Fairgrounds). Dinner will be served at 6:30 with the program following. Inductees to the Hall of Fame this year are Roslyn Brimhall and Elton Ashton. (Information about Elton Ashton was in last week’s Idaho Enterprise.)
Roslyn Brimhall will be honored for her service to education, especially as a girls’ sports coach and as an English teacher at Malad High School.
Roslyn began teaching at Malad High School in 1975 and retired after 37 years of serving the youth of Oneida County as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. She also served as the secretary for the Idaho 5th District Activities Association for 23 years.
Roslyn coached volleyball for 22 years, track for 25 years, and girls’ basketball for 15 years at Malad High School. The volleyball teams she coached were 5th District champions 12 times and State champions 5 times. The girls’ basketball teams she coached were 5th District champions 5 times and State champions once. The track teams she coached were 5th District champions 8 times.
After being named the Idaho A3 Volleyball Coach of the Year 5 times and the Idaho A3 Girls Basketball Coach of the Year once, Roslyn was selected as the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Region 7 Volleyball Coach of the Year in 1990. She was inducted into the Idaho High School Activities Association Hall of Fame in 2015.
In 2019 Roslyn was honored with a banner that is permanently hanging in the Malad High School gym. She was honored on January 19, 2019, at half time of the Malad High School girls’ basketball game.
Although most known for her coaching, Roslyn was also an excellent English teacher. Many of her students have commented through the years that they were prepared for college English after having Ms. Brimhall as a teacher in high school.
Upon retirement, Roslyn moved to Idaho Falls, where she continues to live.
Tickets for the banquet are $30 and can be obtained from Susan Wittman (208-709-6888) or at the Malad City Office. Only a limited number of tickets will be available at the door so please get tickets ahead of the date.
