Wilde Classic starts this weekend!

Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” is one of those plays—such a classic item in the international library of plays that its very British, very late 19th century contents somehow translate to almost anywhere almost any time!  Part of that is due to the tireless wordplay and wit that Oscar Wilde himself is most known for.  Of all the author’s works, “Earnest” is the one that most iconically captures the anarchic but mannered skewering of pretense and authority that is sometimes called “Wildean.”

The play is a farce and a comedy of manners that uses satire in a needle-like way to expose the dangers of being uninteresting.

Dress rehearsal was underway early this week, and the play, a production of the IronDoor Arts and Theater was coming along in fine form, accents and all!

Tickets are $10 at the door, with an $8 group, senior, and military rate.  The play will run May 8,9,10,12, and 13 at 7:00 p.m.  Mother’s Day treats will be available for purchase.  Come support local drama and catch this celebrated play while you can!
