MHS Band and Choir Excel at Festival

The 5th District Music Festival for large performing groups was held on Tuesday, April 22, at Snake River High School.  Bands and choruses from schools at the 4A level and below in the 5th District participated in the Festival.

The Malad High School music groups performed very well and were rewarded for their efforts.  Mr. Foster Garrett, the band and chorus instructor for Malad Middle and High Schools, reported that the MHS Band placed 1st with a score of 97/100.  The MHS Chamber Choir placed 2nd with a score of 95/100.  The High School Chorus earned an 87/100 score.

The other high schools that participated in the Festival were Marsh Valley, Aberdeen, Grace, Snake River, American Falls, Rockland, West Side, and Bear Lake.  There is no State Festival for large groups.  

Family, friends, and community members will be able to hear the Malad groups perform at their Spring concert on Tuesday, May 13, at the gym at Malad High School.  The Middle School concert will be at 6:00 with the High School concert at 7:00.
