Shelia Kay Williams Hawkins

Shelia Kay Williams Hawkins was born on April 21, 1949, in Samaria Idaho to Wayne and Kay Williams.  She passed away April 23, 2025, in Preston Idaho at the Heritage Home (76).

Shelia was the eldest of four children.  During high school she was a cheerleader, channeling her positive energy and happiness to support the teams.

In March of 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Tom Hawkins.  They were blessed with 2 children, Amy and Joe.  They raised their family in Malad valley where they both grew up.  Mom was a great supporter of her children in all their activities especially sports, Go Dragons!!

Many adventures were had at the ranch property, going 4-wheeling with friends, cooking Dutch oven potatoes, branding cows, and hunting elk.  Mom was a worshiper of the sun and water. She spent the summertime gardening and tending to her flowers.  Our family vacationed at the Stone Reservoir with sandy beaches (including cockleburs) and lots of friends.

Shelia was an avid bowler. A longtime member and officer of the Womens Gutter Gussie Association, she enjoyed traveling all over to Bowling Tournaments.

Shelia enjoyed any job where she could talk to people, and she always brightened their day.  Over the years she enjoyed styling friend’s hair, cooking for trap shooters, completing farm surveys, being a hardware diva at Evans Coop/True Value, and sharing her love for Malad hosting at the local museum.  Shelia’s infectious smile and happy attitude followed her everywhere.

This past year, she spent at the Heritage Home in Preston spreading laughter and joy to the residents and staff. They all loved her dearly.  Shelia is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed the services offered at The Heritage Home.

Shelia was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Kay Williams and husband, Tom Hawkins.  She is survived by her children Amy Hawkins (Eric), Joe Hawkins (Angie), her granddaughter Claire Hawkins, her two brothers Verlin (Annette) Williams, Brad (Kathy) Williams and sister, Pam (Ron) Davidson.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, Idaho at noon.  A viewing was held Monday, April 28th from 7 to 8 pm and Tuesday from 11 to noon.

The children recognize and are deeply grateful for all the family and friends who have loved and visited her.  We love and appreciate all of you. The family would like to extend our deep appreciation, love and respect for the Heritage Home Staff and Mission Hospice Services who helped make her last days safe and peaceful.
