Summer is Fair season, of course, and added to that mix this year will be a different take on the idea of Fairs. On Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 10:00am – 2:00pm, Oneida County will be putting on an Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Oneida County Event Center! While there will be fewer animals and less fried food than a standard fair, the purpose of the event is to provide useful and potentially life-saving information to the public in a fun and community-oriented setting.
Fair organizers state that “there will be over 20 different tables which will include Food Storage for short- and long-term displays, Cooking using your Food Storage, 72 Hour Kits, Communications Booth, Outdoor Cooking, Law Enforcement, County Resources to use in case of an emergency, and other useful information for Emergency Preparedness.”
In addition to the tables and booths, the Fair will also host four different presentations on, “Stop the Bleed, Faraday Cages, Automobile Preparedness, and Water Purification,” each lasting approximately 30 minutes. There will be a raffle at the end of each presentation for those who are in attendance. A Faraday cage is a device which is designed to protect objects and devices from external electromagnetic fields for a variety of reasons.
There will be an Outdoor Cooking Display and a Communication Booth outside to try GMRS and Ham Radios.
There will also be Prize drawings every hour to help families get excited about Emergency Preparedness.
Hope to see you there!
