Braylee Price named 2025-2026 DYW!

Braylee Price, the moment after she was announced as the DYW

At the conclusion of Saturday’s DYW event at the Marsh Valley Performing Arts Center, Malad’s Braylee Price was named Distinguished Young Woman for Malad.  She was presented with her medal by last year’s DYW Madelyn Shaw.

While the venue was a bit different this year (formerly, DYW was held at the MES auditorium) the DYW scholarship competition was as impressive and entertaining as always.  And despite the drive up the I-15 to the venue, the auditorium was packed with friends, family, and members of the community on hand to cheer for their young women.

The evening was packed, with Forget-Me-Not performances from last year’s DYW participants, a special award presented to Shawna Daniels by the DYW committee, Madelyn Shaw’s final walk through the auditorium as DYW, and of course the moment of truth.

The category finalists and winners, along with the sponsors of the scholarships awarded to them, were announced first, and were, for the main categories--Self-Expression--Jaylee Ekstrom, Adilyn Schow, Braylee Price (overall); Fitness: Adilyn Schow, Jaylee Ekstrom, Braylee Price (overall); Talent: Jaylee Ekstrom, Adilyn Schow, Braylee Price (overall); Interview: Adilyn Schow, Braylee Price, Jaezie Jensen (overall); Scholastic: Adilynn Schow, Jaylee Ekstrom, Jaezie Jensen (overall).

The Be Your Best Self Award was presented to Cale Carter, Rebecca McCracken.

The Spirit of DYW Award was presented to Jaezie Jensen, Braylee Price.

And finally, the 2nd alternate was Jaylee Ekstrom, the 1st alternate was Adilyn Schow, and the new DYW is Braylee Price.

DYW is a long-running program (formerly the Junior Miss program), which is devoted to building the confidence and success of young women in a range of skills and endeavors.  The local committee has been recognized for excellence, and that was fully on display.

Following the awards, family and friends kept the stage busy as they mingled and celebrated.
