Idaho Enterprise

Grandparents Only

By Gramma Dot

“And that’s the way it is.”  Walter Cronkite’s sign-off were words you could trust.  If it made it to the Walter Cronkite news, you needed to know it.  Times have changed.  I go to my news app every morning to see how “it is” and most mornings I come away shaking my head…Trump’s latest tantrum or border patrol dilemmas pitting states against the feds.  You can’t believe one and you don’t want to believe the other!  Thankfully, we have our local news specialists.

For general community happenings we have The Enterprise.  Josh Blaisdell does southeast Idaho sports analysis at Thomas’ Market.  Marv Ekstrom keeps us up to date on what is happening on the freeway.  Morning prayer meeting at KJs is the heartbeat of the community.  And I love Thursday afternoons at Alice’s for day in and day out living. It’s the local Better Homes and Gardens. That information can be picked up at most of our local beauty shops or at the walking path or old stake building where we get exercise as well as news.  These are vital services that keep our community alive.

Some news locations are by invitation only.  Case in point PT Solutions.  I felt totally out of the loop after I finished therapy on my shoulder.  Not only did I get news while there, but I reconnected with friends and made some new ones.   In that environment you have time to visit for a few minutes while working on your range and motion.  Sometimes, just for entertainment, it is good to slip in a few liberal statements just to see Greg’s wheels turn.

So, think about where you get your news and be grateful you don’t have to rely on the Apple News App, Fox or CNN.  There are much better local sources that let you know how “it really is” in relation to The Good Life.  And that my friends, “is the way
it is.”
