Live Nativity celebrates season

The wisemen join the shepherds and angels to witness the miraculous birth

The Interfaith Council once again presented a live nativity pageant behind the courthouse on Monday.  The event featured readings from the Christmas story in the New Testament by Brian Jeppsen, and the singing and acting of a number of local kids.  Pastor Jack Harwell of the Victory Baptist Church coordinated the proceedings along with other members of the Interfaith Council.

This year, the menagerie on hand to support the drama included a camel and a donkey, joining the goats.  The animals were provided by Ivy Acres Farm from Grantsville, Utah.

During the telling of the familiar story of the birth of Jesus, a choir of young voices sang parts of “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” “Joy to the World,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Away in a Manger,” and other devotional classics.

During the performances, many audience members joined in on the signing of the well-loved songs.

The cast of young performers included William Whipple, Samuel Young, Brian Young, Casey Young, Jaclyn Young, Vivian Young, Winona Young, Tanya Johnson, Sarah Leia, Sarah Beyler, Sarah Overson, Serena Whipple, Karmyn Charles, Liberty Charles, Doris Young, Victoria Young, Danielle Pettis, Camilla Anderson, and Caroline Whipple.

The choir was led by Mary Young and Donna Whipple, and many volunteers helped to put the event on.

The nativity was performed four times, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with refreshments, musical interludes, and a chance to warm up between.
