Elsie Louise (Love, Lamp) Dickerson, 71 of Malad was called home on Thursday, Sept. 28th, 2023. Elsie was born on April 5, 1952 in Spirit Lake, Idaho to Henry D and Ruth Doris Hiebert Hiebert. Elsie is a graduate of Bethel Mennonite College in North Newton, Kansas.

She married her Eternal Sweetheart, Larry Dickerson on March 9th, 2009 and they were later sealed in the Logan Temple.

Elsie was the epitome of love to everyone she met and was well known for giving the most perfect hugs. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the Hymns of the Church, having memorized most of them. Elsie also served her community in various capacities including President of the Gateway Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind. She subsequently served as the President of the Idaho State Chapter as well. She was a Primary and Secondary School Teacher in both Montana and Idaho. Elsie was the recipient of the Jefferson Award, also known as the “Nobel Prize for Public Service.”

Elsie is survived by her “beloved husband” Larry, her daughter Phylissa (Lamp) Connor, sisters Eva Klink (Johnstown, CO), RuthAnn Hiebert (North Newton, KS), Erna Haskins (Boise, ID), and her brother; David Hiebert (Mechanicsburg, PA). She is also survived by nieces and nephews; Lisa, Lorenzo, Kent, Melissa, LeAnn, James, and Adeline. Elsie is preceded in death by her daughter Catherine Jessica Dickerson, her parents, brother Henry Hiebert and sister Linda Hiebert Sekiguchi.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 9th at 12:00 p.m. at the Horsley Funeral Home located at 132 W 300 N in Malad. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday, prior to the funeral from 11:00 – 12:00. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery.
