Norval William Moss III

Norval William Moss III, born December 29,1949, died September 23, 2023. Survived by his current wife Gina Moss, first wife Debbie Moss, their four children: Julie (John), Cheryl, Skip (Kimberly), Kathryn (Joe), and seven grandchildren: Jacob (Tilly), Jayden (Dakota), Jackson, Ossie, Stella, Ruby, and Walter, and his mother Lila Moss, and two brothers John Moss and Ken Moss. Preceded in death by his father Bill Moss, and his brother Jim Moss.

Born in Salt Lake City, Norval spent most of his youth in Malad, ID, where his family worked a small dairy farm. On the farm he learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and how to “get back up on the horse” every time he fell. He and his three brothers spent many fun hours inventing games and pranks. During that time, Norval also participated in church sports, high school sports, high school musicals and more.

The first in his generation, Norval went to college at BYU majoring in business and minoring in economics. At 19, he left for Brazil where he served a two-year, LDS mission. Upon his return he resumed his education at BYU where he met and married his first wife and finished his degree.

Pursuing a career in sales, he and his family eventually settled in Salt Lake City where he helped raise his four children and was very involved in his local church and community. He was known for his skill in teaching and speaking and was frequently a place for his children and nieces and nephews to come for business and money advice.

In later years he became an entrepreneur, first helping to start a family trucking company with his dad and brothers, and then went on to start and eventually sell several other businesses.

Norval was always driven to set goals and achieve new things taking up running, skiing, golf, and even getting his pilot’s license.

At 63, he married his current wife, Gina. Together they ran his final business. Being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, he eventually retired to a life at home with Gina and their dogs. Gina took great care of him as the disease slowly took over his former vibrancy, nursing him all the way to the very end.

Norval will be remembered for his drive for excellence, love of goal setting, and never-ending quest to learn new things. We are glad that life’s burdens have now been lifted, and he is once again free to achieve his dreams.
