The Malad Middle School Science Bowl team had a chance to compete at their regional science bowl recently.

On Friday, March 4th, two teams of students from the Malad Middle School participated in the INL Regional Science Bowl. Because of Covid concerns, the Science Bowl was once again held virtually.

“Hopefully next year it will be in person,” said Coach Tracy Ward.

The students competing in this competition participate in three rounds. Each round has 18 toss up science or math questions. The teams are competing in a virtual Zoom room where the first person to raise their hand is called on to answer the question.  If they get the toss up question correct, the team is given a bonus question.

Mrs. Ward was excited about how the teams did in this competition. She said, “Even though the teams did not win, it was a great experience.  Before the rounds, engineers from INL talked to the students about all the career avenues engineers can take to be world problem solvers.”

The students from Malad Middle School competing made up two teams. Team one included:  Kimball Carter, Jens Huckaby, Paityn Ward, Emma Bird, and Kialey Picket. Team Two members were:  Oaklie Gledhill, Audrey Moss, Kayla Wilson, Aspen Allen, and Gavin Hooste.
