Silent Auction to be Held at Evening of the Arts on April 14

Anyone wanting unique gifts, date night ideas, vehicle service tools or practical and beautiful items for home and garden should plan to attend the 9th annual Evening of the Arts, sponsored by the Nell J. Redfield Memorial Hospital Foundation. After two years of cancellation due to COVID-19, the Evening of the Arts will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Events Center at the Fairgrounds. Admission is free, but you will want to bid on items during the live and silent auctions.  All proceeds will go toward updating the patient rooms on the acute care wing.

Over 60 baskets and gift cards donated by businesses, organizations, and individuals will be part of the live and silent auctions. The live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. with emcee Steve Daniels serving as auctioneer.  Items for the live auction include watercolors by Dianne Adams, a 3-night stay in a 20-person cabin in Island Park donated by Jim Everson and a fire ring built and donated by Josh Profaizer.

The silent auction will begin at 6:00 p.m. and continue throughout the evening with the bids on groups of baskets closing at different times.  Plan to be there early to place your bids on the items you want as bids on items on the “A” Tables will close at 7:00 p.m.

Baskets in the silent auction will contain art work, scrapbooking supplies, overnight stays at the Black Swan Inn and Hotel Malad, tickets to the Iron Door Playhouse, the Hale Center Theater, and Tuacahn, beauty and health products, toys, tools, Pumice decorative rock and soil conditioner, car/truck accessories, pet supplies, pillows and sheets, blankets and quilts, cleaning products, lawn and gardening supplies, caps, bags and totes, lots of gift cards to eating places and other great gifts for yourself or others. Many businesses have made generous cash donations to the event.

The Evening of the Arts will feature art by very talented local artists Annie Brower (resin art), Cody Brower (aluminum anthill sculpture), Bob Crowther (photography), Lois, Rosemary, and Don Lee Hess (oil painting), Linda Lundquist (oil painting), and Tony McClain (taxidermy). The students of Dianne Adams will display their watercolor art. Student works of art by Malad Elementary School 4th and 5th graders and by Malad Middle and High School art students will be displayed.  Refreshments will be provided by the culinary arts students of Malad High School.  The Malad High School Baseball Team will assist with the set up and tear down for the event.

Raffle tickets will be on sale for a one-of-a-kind bell sculpture donated by Doug Adams to the Evening of the Arts. Greeting cards featuring photographs of local scenes by local photographers and vintage cookbooks with recipes by former staff members at the Hospital will be for sale.
