Resources:  6 crews, 24 engines, 12 water tenders, 4 dozers

Total personnel: 358                            Available air support:  1 helicopter

Summary: As expected, very active fire behavior occurred today due to varying wind direction and speeds, high temperatures, low humidity, and unstable atmospheric conditions. During the afternoon, a large smoke plume over the Water Canyon area on the northeast side of the fire created its own weather activity that led to extreme fire behavior with several fire whirls.A small spot fire on the northeast corner was quickly contained. Established lines along the north edge of the fire were improved. Burnout in this area was initiated earlier than planned, but successfully kept the fire within containment lines.

Patrol and mop-up will continue on all areas of the fire, and rehabilitation efforts will begin Friday.
