Responders & Leaders Say: “Be Prepared For Eclipse Influx!”

Oneida County’s emergency responders and leaders met Monday in anticipation of a massive influx of individuals traveling to and from the Rexburg/Idaho Falls area for the total eclipse on Monday, August 21. They discussed emergency communications, law enforcement and emergency health services, and possible need for ham radio communications. Law enforcement and emergency health care staff will be beefed-up. The state road department has equipment ready to push stranded vehicles off the roadways if needed. Bottled water is stockpiled at the sheriff’s office.
Residents are asked to plan for possible loss of cell phone and related services, stock-outs at area businesses due to accommodation of the large number of travelers, and extremely congested roadways.
Please plan ahead: fill your vehicles’ gas tanks NOW. Shop NOW for supplies to last (at least) from Friday through Tuesday. Are your prescriptions filled? Be realistic about the congested roadways. Traffic will arrive in Idaho over a few days prior to Monday, but most of the estimated 100,000 to 400,000 individuals will leave the viewing areas immediately at the end of the eclipse. EXPECT traffic delays, so, if you’re traveling, have your vehicles stocked with life-sustaining supplies.

Oneida County Landfill will be hiring a part-time seasonal employee.  All applicants must be 18 or older and have a current driver’s license.

Oneida County Road Department will be hiring a seasonal summer employee. All applicants must be 18 or older and have a current driver’s license and be physically capable of manual labor.

      Public Notice is hereby given according to law, and the requisite action of the Board of Trustees of Oneida School District #351, Oneida County, Idaho, that the annual school trustee election will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Candidates interested in filing a declaration of candidacy must file not later than 5:00 p.m. on March 17, 2017. Petitions may be picked up and must be returned to the school district offices located on the top floor of the US Bank building, 25 E. 50 S., Malad, ID 83252.

The purpose of said election shall be to elect two trustees to serve for a period of four years from the date of the election, one trustee who resides within Trustee Zone No. 1, Trustee Zone No. 2, and one trustee who resides within Trustee Zone No. 5.

Each declaration of candidacy must bear the name of the candidate, state the term for which declaration of candidacy is made, and bear the signatures of not less than five (5) school district electors resident of the trustee zone of which the candidate is resident.

As provided by Idaho Code, Section 33-502A, no write-in vote shall be counted unless a declaration of intent has been filed with the District Clerk indicating that the person desires the office and is legally qualified to assume the duties of the school trustee if elected.

The auction will take place at 9:00a.m., March 13, 2017 in the Commissioners room at the Oneida County court house located at 10 Court Street, Malad,Idaho. This property is more particularly described as follows:

COMMENCING at a point 21 rods North and 15 feet East  of the SW  Corner of the NE1/4SW1/4 THENCE running North 532.50 feet, more or less THENCE East  144 feet, more of less  to the West bank of the Samaria Water and irrigation Co.
