Competing in the Idaho State Hoop Shoot from Malad was Sawyer Beutler, placing 2nd in the 12 & 13 year old division after making 23/25, going up against 34,000 kids that competed from across the state. 

Beutler’s journey to the state shoot began on November 10, 2023 as he placed 1st in Oneida County going 23/25.  The next phase of the competition took him to Preston against athletes from other area schools where he placed 1st making 24/25 on November 17, 2023. The east Idaho district competition was next in Blackfoot on January 13th, where Beutler once again earned 1st place with a score of 23/25.

On Saturday February 3rd he competed against athletes from the other 4 regions in the state. He made 8/10 and 15/15 for a total of 23/25 to take second place.

A feat such as this doesn’t just happen, but comes when an athlete puts in the time, dedication and commitment to compete.  Congratulations, Sawyer!
