Arne was an assistant coach at Utah State in Logan, Utah while Cathie lived in Riverside, Utah. They went on a date that was arranged by friends and the rest is history. They were married in April of 1981 in the Logan Utah Temple. After getting married, they resided in Logan, Utah while Arne continued to coach football and Cathie was working at a bank.  A few years later they moved to Malad where Arne would continue to coach football and wrestling, and Cathie would transfer to one of the local banks. In 1988, some job opportunities opened for the couple, and they moved North to Pocatello, Idaho. Pocatello was home for Arne and Cathie and their three beautiful children Court, Morgan, and Rocky for seven years. In 1995, Arne and Cathie moved their family back to Malad to take over the family farm that had been in the family for over 5 generations. Cathie still worked in Pocatello, commuting back and forth every day. Their children adjusted to the small-town life, and all would graduate from Malad High School. Arne and Cathie raised three wonderful children that are all successful in their fields and are married to amazing spouses.  Between their three kids, they have 10 Grandkids.

Currently Arne has about a year and half left on his term for Sheriff and Cathie can retire anytime, we think they may be waiting to retire together so they can travel wherever and whenever they want. Mostly to Island Park and chasing Grandkids, whether it be for sports, choir concerts, or Grandparents Day at school.    

Even after 43 years of marriage they are still going strong, through thick and thin, the ups and downs, the good times, and the bad times, they have a love that has withstood the test of time.  We are so proud of them for everything they have taught us and have successfully accomplished over the years. We love them so much and will forever be grateful for their example and what it means to find your eternal soul mate.
