The Dragon wrestlers traveled to Ridgeline High School Wednesday, January 10 to hit the mats against the Riverhawks. They fought hard against the 4A Utah school but came up just short of the win, 39-34, taking their first dual loss this season. 

Coach Devin Morrison commented, “The kids wrestled well but we came away knowing we still have plenty of work to do before the postseason. Our wrestlers are working hard to improve individually and as a team, they have big goals and are working everyday towards those goals.” 

Scheduled to compete at Wendell and Madison tournaments  on Friday, January 12, the boys and girls wrestling teams had two days of matches canceled due to inclement weather.  Unfortunately, with a packed schedule ahead of them, the tournaments won’t be rescheduled.  With their weekend clear, several of the MHS wrestlers spent their supporting Malad youth wrestling as the Brothers of Steel competed in the first IDAWAY tournament held in Marsh Valley.  Coach Morrison shared, “It is a great opportunity for our high school wrestlers to be good examples and support the next generation of wrestlers in Malad. The younger kids look up to our high schoolers and love to have them there in their corner.”

Next up for the Dragon wrestling team are duals against American Falls and Marsh Valley who are both ranked top 4 in the 3a division on Wednesday, January 16. Friday and Saturday the Dragons will wrestle at the annual Aberdeen tournament.
