Born Ogden, Utah April 23, 1951, to John D & Maisey Sandall Potter 

He passed away December 23 in his home in Malad Idaho surrounded by his family. 

Richard was raised in Farmington Utah on the family ranch, Potter Brothers Herefords. He graduated from Davis High School in 1969, attending Weber State University for a short amount of time. Richard married his high school sweetheart Geraldine Kilfoyle on June 19, 1970. They were later solemnized in the Ogden temple. They made their home across the street from his parents, continuing the legacy his grandfather began of a cattleman and his family. Richard and Gerri were blessed with two sons, Bryan and Brance. In raising his boys, he enjoyed working alongside them and supported their interests. He enjoyed his time working in his calling with the scouts, as well as his time serving on the Farmington irrigation board.

Richard worked alongside his father John and and later his brother after David’s retirement. 

He spent countless hours and miles in his pickups (which numbered many). Travelling between ranch properties, managing duties, and making deals. Of course, visiting people along the way. Richard especially looked forwarded to the yearly sale of the calves at Producers Livestock in Greeley Colorado.

After selling the ground in Farmington in 1999, Richard and Gerri moved to the ranch in Malad, but he always considered Farmington his home. 

Richard was a colorful storyteller with a clever sense of humor. If he found a friend, new or old he could be delayed B.S.’ing for hours. Once he acquired a cellphone it was in constant use. He easily made friends from acquaintances through his abilities to remember names, events, and relationships. Bob had a great interest in his family ancestry with an ability to recall those details.  He had a giving nature and often gave to those he felt needed it. He found comfort and solace in music.   When Bob found something interesting, he enjoyed learning more about it and was excited to share with others. 

Bob has given his family many stories, sayings, and lessons learned. He was proud of Potter Ranches legacy and future. 

He leaves behind his GiGi of 53 years, two sons Bryan (Donna) Brance (Michelle). Grandchildren Chet (Cierra), Kallie (James), Maisey, Jace, Ayden, and Dutch. Two great grandchildren Monty and Haizley. 

Preceded in death by his parents John & Maisey.  Survived by John David Potter.
