Jan 08, 2024 02:01PM ● By Anna Pro

Studio A Dance 1st graders lit up the gym.

This year’s Dragonette Christmas Show was a chance for dancers young and old to show off their skills to a packed gym, full of parents, fellow students, and the public.  The Dragonettes were joined by MHS Cheer and Studio A Dance for a program featuring a range of dance styles, and ending with a candy toss.

Lines were long for the program, which brought a full crowd into the MHS gym for a fun and athletic night of performances.

The program began with the MHS Dragonettes performing “Get Big,” a hip-hop number.

Studio A’s Preschoolers followed up with “Do What I Do.”  MHS Cheer then brought a pom-pom dance “Hyperstar,” followed by the Dragonettes military routine, “Protectors”.   Studio A Dance’s K-1st dancers performed “Lollipop Candy.”  Alexus Tarbet performed “Work Song” as a solo. Studio A Dance’s 2nd graders danced  “Everybody Get up” and then the 3rd-5th graders performed “Happy Dance.”  Makiya Shulz danced the second solo of the night with “Take Me to Church.”  Studio A’s 6th-8th graders danced “Yes I Can.”  The MHS Dragonettes ended the program in Santa outfits to “Christmas Special,” and ended with throwing candy to the crowd.

For 2023-2024, the Dragonettes include: Seniors—Alexus Tarbet (captain), Charli Brisco (Co-captain), Sadie Jensen (secretary); Juniors—Baylee Owens (Dress Mistress), Makiya Shulz (Public Relations), Maren Sperry; Spohomores—Jaylee Ekstrom; Freshmen—Rylee Talbot, Paislee Davis, Emree Ekstrom, Addysin Mursock, Kelty Thomas, Kaycee Venable.  They are coached by Wendy Owens, Kelsey Owens, and Wendy Hess.  MHS Cheer Coaches are Jennifer Hill and Abby Goddard.

Studio A Dance is under the direction of Alaina Schrenk and Alicia Seamons.
