Shooters take aim at the Malad Gun Club's Annual Turkey Shoot held Saturday for a chance to win a turkey or ham.

Pop, pop, pop! Early on Saturday morning, November 19, shooters lined up at the Malad Gun Club for the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot. It was a clear, very cold day, and many gathered at the Gun Club to try their luck at winning a Thanksgiving turkey or ham.

The event started with a few warm-up rounds, and then competition started and lasted throughout the day.

During competition, between 14 and 24 shooters competed in a group. The last one standing in each group of nine was declared the winner. During the day they would spin the pie boards and a shooter would shoot at it and whichever name had the holes on their name won the choice of a turkey or ham. About 100 turkeys and 40 hams were handed out to those participating and from the splatter board.

The annual shoot is well attended every year, and this year was no exception. Malad residents and friends from Utah enjoyed the day. The next event for the Malad Gun Club will be the Malad Round Robin Trap shoot that will be held in April and May 2024for three weekends.
