Last Friday, the football team had their last home game of the season! This game was against the West Side Pirates. Senior, Caleb Mathews, said, “Our offense and defense wasn’t good. We didn’t keep our heads together and we struggled to get along.” Malad wasn’t able to match West Side’s explosive offense. The team fought hard but the end score was 49-0. Before the game, the Seniors were honored. The class of 2024 has many senior players who are outstanding!

Heritage Center CTSO Activity/ BPA Movie Night

By: Aubree Palmer

On Saturday, October 21st, BPA, FCCLA, FFA, and HOSA traveled to Logan to commence their first quarterly activity. First proposed at BASIC training earlier this year, FCCLA and BPA decided to take on the task of planning the first activity. Last year, the FCCLA traveled to the heritage center and had a great time! Upon BPA and FCCLA brainstorming what to do, FCCLA proposed the idea of returning to the fall function—last weekend only reiterated the excitement and appreciation for the many fall-themed activities provided. Members of each organization had a blast participating in a huge corn maze, a train ride, inflatable ball fighting, corn hole, nine square, and a haunted walkthrough. Aubree Palmer, an officer in BPA and FCCLA said, “Last year, as an FCCLA chapter, we thoroughly enjoyed the center. However, being able to have each of the other Career Technical Student Lead Organizations with us made it so much more fun! On behalf of both FCCLA and BPA, I can safely say that we loved this activity, and can’t wait to see what HOSA and FFA plan for our next one!” Monday, October 30th is another fall-themed activity held by the BPA. In addition, the BPA chapter invites all to come to a drive-in movie at Malad High School. The showing will be a skeleTON of fun, and will be showcasing “Poltergeist”. Admission will be $3, and delicious concessions will be provided!

The Lady Dragons played in the 2A invitational tournament and came home as champions. The tournament took place in Firth. The teams playing in the tournament were Firth, Grangeville, and Malad. First game was Firth vs. Malad, and it was a very tough game. Game one ended as a tie, 0-0. The second game was Malad vs. Grangeville. The Dragons went into the game not knowing much about their opponent, because they hadn’t competed against them before. The Dragons were fighting in the beginning to keep the score tied at 0-0. In the second quarter Bayli Nesbit and Emily Coatney made two amazing goals making the score 2-0. They kept up their great work and managed to keep the score 2-0, making their first win. The last game was Firth vs. Grangville, Firth won 2-0, giving the Cougars their first win. Since Malad and Firth both won a game and tied with each other they had to do a shoot out. Our Lady Dragons ended up winning the shootout against Firth making us win overall. The Dragons became the tournament champions.
