Oneida Quilters Guild Meeting—March

By Brenda Daniels

The Oneida Quilt Guild held their monthly meeting on March 10. We began with Tracy and Becky from Sew in Stitches Quilt Shoppe in Pocatello doing a demonstration of new items that help make cutting and quilting easier. They showed how using a multi- strip cutting ruler can help get you several strips cut at one time that are very accurate. They showed how to use those strips to make a tube that was then cut using a strip tube ruler. This produced several easy half-square triangles.

After the demonstrations we had Show and Tell. Audrey Jaussi amazed us again with a beautiful paper pieced star quilt and a scrap star quilt. Cindy Gevas has been busy this last month. She showed a sampler lap quilt, a Quilt of Valor, her finished church’s quilt and an appliqued cactus quilt that she designed using plats in her home for inspiration. Debra Clark showed us a strip quilt she made to donate to the nursing home and a cute bunny pillowcase she made for her granddaughter. Danece Hess displayed her block of the month and a pretty pink disappearing nine patch to donate as well. Jean Lucht brought a quilt top that she and her granddaughter had put together. Brenda Daniels showed her block of the month as well as a table runner she had made. Rosie Silvester showed her block of the month. Kristy Zahn brought a colorful chevron strip quilt that she had finished.

This was followed by a delicious luncheon. We then were free to visit, sew any projects we had brought, participate in the block of the month class or help tie the quilt that was set up. A good time was had by all. We invite anyone interested in quilting to join us on the second Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the Senior Citizen’s center.
