Cheerleading

The Malad High School Cheerleaders just returned home from Boise at the Idaho Dance and Cheer State Competition where they brought home a 2nd Place in the Show and Stunt Group, 6th Place in the Pom Division and 4th Over-All in the 1A/2A Division.  They competed against the top Teams from all over the state of Idaho in the Show, Pom and Stunt group Divisions.  Members of the Stunt group was Callie Jensen, Shyanne Cherry, Tayson Davis, Graycee Goddard and Rylie Walton.

It was a busy month getting prepared for State. The Cheerleaders were supporting their Dragon Basketball and Wrestling Teams and sometimes had four events in a week with a Competition on top of that.  We used each game as a practice to try and get ready.  It was a little tough on the Team with their Season being moved up over a month.  District is usually when we competed at State then State would follow in March. We had to be ready in December with all our routines, on top of a busy schedule cheering at games.  I was so proud of them for what they brought to the mats at State.  They all worked so hard to be the best they could be and fell short by only a few points in the Show and Stunt division for 1st Place.  They had a large crowd there to support them at State, which was greatly appreciated.  This has been such an amazing and very determined team and I will greatly miss the six Seniors we are losing this year. They will be hard to replace where some are four-year veterans.  The Team is now done for the year until the Dragonettes Spring show where they will perform at one last time.  Tryouts for next year will be in April and then we will start all over again for the new year.
